Mosaic tile - the detail that finishes a room

Mosaic tile is the design element that takes a project from done to designed. A single feature wall, shower floor, or backsplash band in glass, marble, or penny-round mosaic adds a custom-built feel that flat tile alone can't match. Mosaic is also the right tile for shower floors - the smaller pieces follow the slope without lippage, and the extra grout lines add slip resistance exactly where you want it. It's one of our most-requested details - see examples in our reviews.

Most mosaics come on mesh or paper-faced sheets roughly 12x12. The skill is in the seams between sheets - lined up wrong, you'll see a grid pattern across the whole installation. We dry-lay every sheet, hand-pull individual tiles to break the pattern at sheet edges, and use white thinset under glass mosaics so the color stays true.
