Natural stone is some of the most beautiful flooring you can install and the most demanding to install correctly. Every stone reacts differently to mortar, sealers, and the saw, and a stone job done wrong will haunt a home for decades. Coastal Carpet & Tile has installed natural stone as part of our full tile flooring lineup across the Emerald Coast for years - marble, travertine, slate, limestone, and granite.
We supply premium-grade stone from quarries we trust, and we won't install bargain-bin stone that's prone to spalling, pitting, or breaking under foot traffic. If you'd rather get the look without the sealing schedule, our porcelain tile does a convincing stone-look impression too, or pair stone with a mosaic accent for a shower floor.
Choosing the right stone for the room
Each stone has its strengths. The right choice depends on where it's going, how much traffic it sees, and how much maintenance you're willing to do.

- Travertine - warm earth tones, slightly porous; ideal for entries, sunrooms, and patios

- Granite - hardest stone available; high-traffic floors and outdoor commercial spaces
Sealing and lifetime care in a humid climate
Natural stone needs to be sealed at installation and re-sealed every 1-3 years - if anything, a little more often this close to the Gulf, and we'll tell you the exact schedule for your specific stone. We use premium impregnating sealers that don't change the stone's color or finish, just block out moisture and oils.
We're one of the few shops in the Emerald Coast that talks homeowners through long-term stone care instead of just walking away after installation day. If a stone tile ever cracks, our floor repair team can usually match it for a single-tile replacement.

Natural Stone Tile - frequently asked questions
Yes - except dense granite, all natural stones are porous and will stain without a sealer. We seal on installation day and recommend a refresh every 1-3 years, sometimes sooner given our coastal humidity.
Honest answer: marble etches from acidic liquids (lemon, vinegar, wine). Most homeowners love the patina that develops, but if you want it to look new forever, we'll steer you toward a marble-look porcelain instead.
Yes - stone is one of the best materials for radiant heat because it holds and conducts heat exceptionally well. We install electric mat systems under stone floors as part of the same project.
We keep a record of every stone we install and where it was sourced. In most cases we can match the original stone for a single-tile replacement.
